At the weekend there’s nothing I like better than exploring London’s many markets. Let’s be honest – after 4 days de-germing in my flat I’m just happy to be outside enjoying the fresh air of my favourite season and today was surprisingly sunny.
Our day began with a detour en route to the tube station; our local area, West Hampstead, has a new weekly farmers’ market and as we missed last Saturday’s premiere event (it was all wine’s fault) it would’ve been rude not to pop in today. I picked up the most delicious chocolate brownie, which I enjoyed while squirrel-watching in Bethnal Green, our planned destination for the day, just before we realised the vintage fair we’d trekked there for is actually on tomorrow. Oops.
It made sense to stay in East London so we paid a long-overdue visit to Spitalfields (where I managed to cross another item off my investment piece shopping list, more on that another day) before heading over London Bridge to a very crowded Borough Market where we stocked up on pepperbites, garlic-stuffed olives and some spices (including a little gift for my Mum, who’s just got into baking bread). Not the day we’d planned but still productive and lots of fun! What are you up to this weekend?
