How to work with PRs [advice from the TOWIB PR Panel]

Here they are at last! As promised, the (long overdue) tips we received from the PR panel at last month’s TOWIB event. (Yes I took notes and yes I was the good girl at school but it was an excuse to use my favourite notebook.)

If you’ve any questions about any of the things we learnt feel free to ask :)

Chris and I were supposed to be going to a really interesting-sounding event tonight, Dickens and London. I’ve been feeling groggy and bunged-up since last night though so I’m getting into bed right now with my friends Frankie and Marie Claire (ELLE is late as usual!).

Great set of notes, I envy your note taking skills, mine are illegible to never be deciphered ;) Whenever I have approached PR’s about brands (not for freebies, sometimes just asking about press days) I have been completely ignored. Generally sticking to most of the points above. I don’t bother any more and let them contact me first, hope the brands I like get in touch. They seem to look down on you if you have approached them and that you are not a respectable blogger. From my experience anyway xx

Ooooh this is very interesting to hear things from the other side. Obviously the PR companies have a different agenda as it’s a job to them so I can understand why they want prompt posts, however sometimes my schedule just does not allow it! I was tempted to get back into Lookbook but think WIWT might be more up my street as I can quite easily take quick photos of an outfit before I leave the house.

Becky, this is the perfect How To post! I love how you’ve scanned the pages, it is nice to read handwriting on the internet. Lots of good advice and tips here.
