This week, Pistol Panties popped-up at Selfridges London to showcase their SS12 ‘Psychadelic Rodeo’ collection on a makeshift carousel, complete with unicorn and a canopy of rainbow-coloured ribbons. (Selfridges is the perfect place for this pop-up, having supported Pistol Panties since stocking the first ever collection in 2004.)
Growing up in Miami, home of the beach body, designer Deborah Fleming used to watch Westerns with her brothers and this collection was inspired by Raquel Welch’s sexy bandit in “Bandolero!”.
The collection is everything you’d expect from this young-ish brand known for a modern take on retro glamour: it’s colourful, fun, and sexy. The pieces aren’t just pretty though, each has subtle details designed to slim thighs, create curves and lengthen legs. Deborah says:
Aside from the fact that Pistol Panties swimwear is lots of fun, the most important thing is the fit. You’re only covering 3% of your body so you might as well look as gorgeous as possible. It comes down to years and years of perfecting the perfect bum cut, the perfect hip cut, the perfect bust cut; it’s really important to us.
Deborah was in attendance at the pop-up’s launch event on Thursday and spent lots of time chatting with bloggers, showing a strong passion for her baby and a clear understanding of her target customer. Every little detail has been thought of; if you buy direct from Pistol Panties you can even order tops and bottoms in different sizes.
The SS12 collection is available at Selfridges now and the pop-up store closes on 6 May.
Pistol Panties are available at Selfridges London or click to buy online.
Thanks to Pistol Panties and Selfridges for having me and for the lovely goody bag!
