Imagine how you’d spend the most perfect of sunny days. Chances are it would involve friends, pretty dresses, refreshing cocktails and lots of sweet treats. Well that’s how I got to spend a recent Sunday thanks to Carrie and Lucy and their new magazine, Wish.
Wish was launched with a spectacular afternoon tea at The Victoria in NW1 (a pub I’m a bit too familiar with thanks to working locally) but I must say I’d never seen it looking so pretty, with giant paper pompoms, scented candles from sponsor Penhaligon’s, and pretty floral posies everywhere.
Fun touches included knitting lessons from Stitched Up, where I completed my first ever knitting project (let us not speak of previous attempts): a rather wonky handknitted bow brooch!
There was also perfume profiling from Penhaligon’s (my suggested scents were spot on!), plus the chance to sit for a hand-drawn illustration – I love mine and am displaying it in this frame (in white).
We consumed the most addictive ‘Wish cocktail’ (made with rose cordial and Hendrick’s Gin), Earl Grey biscuits, rose meringues, red velvet cupcakes (made by lovely Kristabel), a lemon curd cake with melt-in-your-mouth icing, and a Yummy In Your Tummy cake so pretty everyone was reluctant to tuck into it (of course once Carrie and Lucy cut into it it vanished immediately).
I got to meet Sarah Betty and Briony for the first time, caught up with lots of other gorgeous girls (plus Jai’me!), but of course the highlight of the afternoon was the chance to flick through a proof of Wish itself.
Girls (and boys), you’re going to love this magazine. Fed up with publications that don’t speak to them, Carrie and Lucy have created the antidote – a magazine “for girls with a Peter Pan complex”. Fingers crossed this issue is the first of many!
You can buy Wish magazine exclusively from magazine.wishwishwish.net from today! (EDIT: Wish is no longer on sale.)
Thanks so much to Carrie and Lucy for having me, wishing (ha) you both the best of luck with Wish!
