Autumn reading

Books to read this autumn/winter

Inspired by Elsie and Emma’s post, I decided to create my own list of books to read during the upcoming long, dark evenings. I love making lists! If nothing else, writing things down means I have to do them – I can’t bear having items that aren’t tidily crossed off (and most of these books have been un-crossed for too long)!

The Casual Vacancy” by J.K. Rowling

THE TIME TRAVELER’S WIFE” BY AUDREY NIFFENEGER

We Need To Talk About Kevin” by Lionel Shriver

Bossypants” by Tina Fey

Moranthology” By Caitlin Moran

The Help” By Kathryn Stockett

You can find the rest of my (ever-expanding) to-read list on my Goodreads profile :) What are you reading at the moment?

p.s. Each of the book titles is linked to my favourite book store, the Book Depository: in my experience they’re always the cheapest and international delivery is free!

I want to read the Casual Vacancy. Must get round to buying that eventually but I have a small pile of books in my room to finish reading first!

I always have a pile of library books which makes me feel incredibly guilty! Oops!

If you read the Casual Vacancy first let me know how it is :)

I love The Book Depository! They’re my favourite too, because they always have the books I want. I’ve never not been able to buy something from my wish list on there.

I just finished reading Victoria Pendleton’s autobiography and loved it. Next on the list is Mark Watson’s ‘The Knot’. I read ‘Eleven’ and thought it was one of the best books I’d ever read, so am hoping ‘The Knot’ will follow!

I absolutely LOVED The Help – best book I’ve read in a long time. We Need To Talk About Kevin is also a very good read, disturbing but well written and gripping. AND Time Travellers Wife! I’ve just bought Moranthology, looking forward to reading. I do a Bookworm feature on my blog; if you fancy some suggestions, have a wee look (blueoctoberblog.com). I’m currently reading The Dinner by Hermann Koch which is great. Lizzie x

I’m really pumped about reading Casual Vacancy! I read Tina Fey’s book and LOVED it.. so silly and identifiable. I’m looking forward to reading more this fall as the temps cool down and the Portland rain starts.
