Towards the end of last year, Asia’s famed BB creams finally hit our shores and I was dying to try them out. So far there still aren’t too many available in the UK but more seem to be popping up all the time.
What is a BB cream?
In case you’ve missed them so far, BB creams – or to give them their full name blemish balm creams – are touted as skin-perfecting wonder-foundations.
BB cream was invented in the 1960s and prescribed by dermatologists to post-laser surgery patients to help soothe their skin whilst maintaining light coverage.
Think of it as a tinted moisturiser or lightweight foundation that improves your skin while you’re wearing it. C’est super!
So what do I think of 17′s BB cream?
I’ve actually been using this cream for a while – on launch day last November I ran around London and eventually tracked it down on Oxford St (my 3 smaller, local stores didn’t have it yet!). At the time all 17 Cosmetics were on a 3-for-2 offer and I was so convinced I’d like this I bought 3!
I wasn’t actually planning on posting a review, and usually wouldn’t post 2 beauty reviews in 1 week, but I’ve just been taking part in the @Official17 ‘Twitter Party’ and it seems quite a few people wanted to hear honest thoughts on this product so I thought I’d share mine.
I can honestly say I love it. Coverage is light-medium and conceals minor imperfections, evening out skin tone beautifully. It feels like I’m wearing nothing on my face at all and it blends in so smoothly.
I am suffering from mild adult acne at the moment but find I feel confident wearing this alone, with my usual foundation just over the top of my problem areas (namely my chin and cheeks).
This cream also contains SPF 25 so it’s safe for summer, if it arrives this year ;)
I genuinely love this product and will definitely buy it again once my stockpile has diminished!
The only possible negative I can think of is that it currently only comes in 2 shades, light and medium, so darker skins might have to wait a while to give it a go.
