When swimwear e-tailer Simply Beach offered to send me something from their recently-launched lingerie section I spent a lot of time browsing the brands available (including Melissa Odabash and Seafolly) before I was able to narrow it down. I was on the hunt for something fairly specific so I was quite a tricky customer.

I wanted something subtly sexy and classically feminine. It also had to be practical enough to wear on a regular basis. I cleared out my lingerie drawer when we moved house and I’d found myself oddly lacking in basic day-to-day underwear, although I’ve made a conscious decision to start wearing nicer sets: nothing makes a girl feel better than wearing pretty lingerie just because!

One woman who knows pretty is Elle Macphearson. At 48-years-old (seriously) she’s still one of the most gorgeous people on Earth and runs lingerie brand Elle Macphearson Intimates, from which I chose the Dentelle set in black and vintage cream. I also got my first ever Wonderbra with matching high-waisted briefs. Every girl needs a push-up bra in her lingerie wardrobe! I absolutely love them both, what do you think?

I’m usually wary about buying underwear online but as I had my last bra fitting fairly recently (it’s recommended you’re measured every 2 years or so) I bought my usual size in both the bra and bottoms and both fit like a dream. Simply Beach do offer free returns though and delivery is only £1.99.
