I get unashamedly giddy about Christmas and now that it’s only a couple of weeks away it seems more acceptable to share my excitement (though I admit I’ve been watching festive films, listening to Christmassy music and drinking mulled wine since November). Last week we spent an evening at the Southbank Christmas Market, where we indulged in bratwurst, Glühwein, and Bailey’s hot chocolate while joyfully gawking at the most realistic Santa you could ever wish to see.
I may be biased but this market isn’t quite as good as Manchester’s annual event - for a start it’s much smaller and secondly (unsurprisingly) it can get very, very busy at the weekends. It is still definitely worth a peek but so if you are planning a visit I’d recommend popping down on a weekday evening.
p.s. From Thursday-Sunday this week head down to the Scoop, where More London’s Christmas Market is also taking place! Ho ho ho!
Southbank Christmas Market, Queen’s Walk – between the London Eye and the Southbank Centre (nearest tube: Waterloo). Open Mon-Fri 11am-10pm, Sat-Sun 10am-10pm until 24th December 2012.
