Louis Armstrong “When You’re Smiling”
I woke up feeling all cynical about this ‘Hallmark holiday’ (which is admittedly unlike me as usually anything soppy/romantic is right up my street), but after spending the day around colleagues exclaiming “happy love day!” every time they speak to someone new and buying treats for the rest of the office just because it’s Valentine’s Day I’ve been won over again.
I still don’t like the thought of today being set aside specifically for people to show their loved ones how much they mean to them: in my opinion you should do that every single day.
Chris and I are sticking on a suitably cheesy DVD (which we’re already bickering about) and had planned to feast on M&S’s famed dine-in deal but seeing as the stores we tried had sold out of what we wanted we’re having an old favourite, fajitas, which is oddly fitting as we lived off them when we first met as poor students.
What are your plans for this evening?
