Last week Chris and I celebrated 5 years together (5! years!) and this week we enjoyed a date night at Westfield London, shopping mecca and also home to almost 50 restaurants, a cinema, a spa and even (this one was news to me) a library.
We ate at steakhouse The Meat and Wine Co., situated on the Southern Terrace just opposite House of Fraser. Beautifully designed inside and out, the bar and restaurant are bathed in a welcoming orange glow; at the top of the stairs you’re greeted by row-upon-row of flickering candles plus a very impressively long open fire.
I enjoyed a scrumptious starter of grilled halloumi and chargrilled vegetables, followed by a mammoth and visually-spectacular prawn and beef skewer, washed down with a Pink Panther cocktail (incorporating raspberry vodka, framboise and double cream amongst other things) which is honestly the most delicious drink in the history of the world.
A special mention has to go to our waiter, Bon M, who was absolutely fantastic, providing probably the best service I’ve ever received in a restaurant. He even taught me a Zulu word: “ndlovo” (elephant)!
After a leisurely meal we waddled across to the Vue Cinema to watch The Descendants (also highly recommended if you haven’t seen it yet!) while our food digested before jumping on the tube home.
Westfield London is somewhere I always forgot about when considering nights out but after the wonderful time we had on Tuesday it’s definitely somewhere I’ll be considering again. There are lots of offers on too, for example just £20 will buy you 2 cinema tickets, 4 hours parking, and a 2-for-1 dining voucher!
Have you ever enjoyed a night out in Westfield London?
Westfield London, Ariel Way, London W12 7GF (nearest tube Shepherd’s Bush / Wood Lane / White City)
Chris and I were guests of Westfield London but if we hadn’t enjoyed ourselves I’d tell you!
p.s. Thanks so much for all of your lovely comments and tweets about my last post! I’m incredibly nervous but obviously very excited too! Don’t forget I’ll be tweeting and updating my Facebook page all night so click follow/like for live updates!
In similar news I’ve just started a Google+ page! I’m still undecided about it but more people and brands have joined since the last time I logged-on and that already seems to have made an improvement; of course the whole point of social media is interaction so it stands to reason that the more people using it the better it will be! Let me know if you’re on there too :)
