Holey moley!

Blue Reiss coat, Lycra Fusion Cutting Edge tights

I’m not the best when it comes to clothing customisation (beyond turning jeans into cut-offs or sticking a few studs onto something) but I like to try and that can lead to expensive mistakes. One item that should be cheap and easy to stick your own stamp on is hosiery and thanks to Lycra Fusion’s new Cutting Edge tights it is. The science behind it is too complicated for me but basically you can snip away with no fear of laddering/tears – as long as you use proper, sharp scissors (I used these fabric scissors) and don’t cut your holes too close together.

For my first attempt I kept it simple and went for a spotted design with plain, bright tights underneath (let’s be honest, in this weather doubling-up the tights is always a good idea). Initially it does feel odd to be hacking holes in your tights but it is good fun! Next time I’ll either cut out paw print shapes or a polka dot back-seam. I’ll be trying them layered over a lace pair of tights too.

How would you customise your Cutting Edge tights? There are some great ideas in MyTights.com’s “Cutting Edge Style” gallery on Pinterest and if you submit your own photos to the board by 31st January you could win £100 store credit and a Lycra Fusion goody bag!
